Schweizerische Alpine Mittelschule Davos (SAMD)

Schweizerische Alpine Mittelschule Davos (SAMD) is the high school of Davos, the upper Prättigau and Albula valley. Besides the regional students, there are students from other Swiss regions and from abroad attending the international boarding school. At SAMD, about 230 students benefit from a comprehensive range of education, care, sports, and leisure activities. With its high-quality high school and intermediate business school, the SAMD provides a sound general education and gives students easy access to educational institutions on tertiary level.

At high school, the focus is on Latin, physics and mathematics, biology, and chemistry, as well as economics and law. Geography, sports, music, visual arts, and computer science are taught as supplementary subjects. Additionally, there is a wide range of optional subjects, from psychology to astronomy, choir, and theatre. Students also have the possibility to obtain a bilingual diploma (English). At intermediate business school, the focus is on business subjects and practical lessons as well as internships in various companies. General education subjects and languages complete the range of lessons.

The high school and business school diplomas (Matura and Berufsmatura) are recognised by the Swiss Federation. While the high school diploma entitles students to enter the faculties of Swiss universities and federal institutes of technology, the business school diploma gives access to Swiss universities of applied sciences.

The school’s offer is completed by the SAMDplus programme, where additional subjects, internships, study weeks and competitions challenge and encourage particularly gifted and ambitious students.
